Mokume-gane is a 17th century Japanese technique for forging metals. The process is a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns. The name
Mokume-gane means "wood-grain metal” in Japanese. The results of the mixed forged metals, produce a “Burl Metal” look for this very unique metal. This type of metal was used for swords and other sharp edged weapons in the 17th century Asian countries. The cobaltium takes on a bright high shine finish and mesmerizes with its color changing properties. This is my version of Mokume Gane.
